The National Propane Gas Association is a trade association for the propane gas industry. NPGA is one of the smallest spenders on PR and advertising in our dataset, reporting $201,393 on PR and advertising for the entire 2008 to 2017 period. In 2012 they paid Butane-Propane News just over $100k for advertising. Then in 2014, they paid Craft Media/Digital $101k for PR services.
NPGA’s tax forms highlight one of the key issues with 990s and paid contractor reporting. It’s possible that NPGA used more advertising and PR services than their tax returns suggest, especially in trade association newspapers, but they may have paid contractors under the $100k limit that legally compels reporting on 990s. Without the complete dataset, it seems as though NPGA has hardly utilized any PR or advertising contractors.
NPGA 990s: 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017
